SimTech proposes a two-step approach to CAE driven design:

  • Identification and validation of a problem solving methodology
  • Methodology implementation and technology transfer
Vertical applications are the deliverables of this technology transfer.

A vertical application is an organized sequence of CAE tasks leading to the solution of an engineering problem.
A vertical application guarantees the profitability of past development activity, when existing solvers are structured into easy-to-use procedures.

Since 2001, SimTech has developed more than a dozen vertical applications.
The following are a few examples:

  • An environment for hydroforming process design. Developed for the FIAT Research Center, this package integrates geometric modeling, optimization and FE simulation.
  • An environment for analysis of pedestrian compatibility. It is a pre- and post-processor for optimization in such problems.Given a set of mechanical and geometrical design variable, this application provides for a easy set up of the design point.
  • A distributed computation environment. Defines and carries out monte-carlo and DOE simulations over an heterogeneous network. Advanced statistical post-treatment capabilities are also available.
  • A structural optimization environment. Centered around GENESIS, this environment makes full advantage of the potential of optimization for structural design. Further, specific, custom design features can be added at leisure, such as super-element design, forced vibration response, topology optimization features.
